Happy Friday! I write to you almost relieved of the nearly 12 000 (!!!) cards I have been ripping through in the last week. Let me tell you, when I envisioned operating a little print shop, I kind of overlooked the tangible nature of print products. I live digitally! Most of my files and projects live in tidy little folders deep inside of my computer. Print products (much to my dismay) do not!

I have learned quickly that prints for the shop can live anywhere. My office, my living room, dining room – pretty much every flat surface in my home and office where occupied by this little collection of thank you cards I’ve been working on for the last month. So the next time I think to myself, hey why don’t I prepare an order of 4000 cards? I’ll remember that means living in a little cuckoo card village until I get it all done. But I think they are worth it. I really love this little set.

People who know me well would laugh at the chalkboard art style I’ve got going on with this collection. Since I was a kid, I’ve had an extreme aversion to chalk. Can’t touch the stuff without getting the creepy crawlies and an immediate need to wash my hands. Don’t even talk to me about nails on a chalkboard. Buuuuut I am absolutely enamored by chalk art that you’re seeing more and more of in restaurants and cafes and really wanted to recreate it for a print collection.

Luckily these sketches started out in pencil-form sketches and I was able to transform them to chalkboard art digitally. Chalk-dust-on-hands-and-everything emergency: avoided.
